Newbie
Hi Friends,
It’s been a second (make that a few months). If you haven’t heard from me it’s because I’ve been working on something for us…
Newbie is a weekly class where we create space for new beginnings and new breakthroughs.
Maybe you moved to a new town or started a new job. Maybe you’re in a new relationship or maybe you're newly single. Maybe you got a new diagnosis or are otherwise changing your lifestyle. Or maybe there is something new you haven’t tried yet, but have always wanted to — then Newbie is for you!
The class is hosted and led by me. I share my personal stories, tips and resources, and you become part of a rad community. This is a fun, focused hour that inspires, energizes, and stretches our newbie muscles, like a dance class for your mind.
Drop-in on Sundays, 4 pm to 5 pm EST, on zoom. $25/class at www.newbie.fun
Why am I doing this?
I’m the kind of person who does a million things—from creating Subway Book Review to writing a book and opening a pop-up bookshop—I love trying new things. But this January I had no energy, creativity, or anything else left and I did the only thing I could do: I gave myself time to rest. During this time, I went on daily walks in Fort Greene Park, I read a lot, I took field trips to museums, and I joined a support group for people who are living with bipolar disorder (a life-changing diagnosis I got last year after my 40th birthday). I usually seek out new beginnings, but in this case my new beginning found me first. I’m a neurodivergent newbie. Once I accepted this, I came to a realization: I’m not the only one facing an unexpected new beginning. We’re all rebuilding our cities, communities, and ourselves in the new normal. This newness can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. That’s why I’m creating a space where we can take risks and give ourselves permission to try new things together! It’s magical to not feel alone and it’s kind of thrilling to be a newbie again.
