Confused Individual
Dear ones,
As we’re heading into warmer days I am certainly asking myself a) how the pandemic can be considered “over” b) when we can start to gather as groups in person again (remember book club?! dinner parties?! events?!) and c) how we can move forward together. To be honest, it’s not fully clear to me at this time and I’m trying to make peace with that. Kareem Rahma, who I interviewed for my upcoming book Between the Lines about How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell, said it best: “My current identity status is “confused individual”. I don’t know anything anymore and I think that’s great. Everything that has happened, I couldn’t have predicted any of it. Now my mantra is to do what’s right, right now.”
In that spirit, I asked a group of women who I love and admire to come together to talk about what we can do that might feel right, right now. The iconic designer Gail Anderson, climate writer Mary Annaïse Heglar, food equity advocate Ora Kemp, and Sol the Drag Queen (Sol will bless us with an intuitive tarot card reading for the collective!!) will gather virtually this Sunday at 6 pm EST and you can join us!
Our conversation is part of The Bronx is Reading Festival, which is free and totally rad. I hope you and your thirsty mind will tune in, and while this is coming to you on a screen (we’re kinda over it, I know) it is guaranteed to nourish you. I say that very confidently because talking to these women has given me life over the past year.
I can’t wait to see you on Sunday evening! Get cozy on your couch or call in from a park. All of you is welcome, wherever you may find yourself.
